The California Department of Justice (CalDOJ) collects and maintains Crime and Arrest statistics for the entire state. This information is submitted to CalDOJ by local law enforcement agencies.
Historically, this information has been aggregated and published on an annual basis.
This labor intensive manual process introduced significant delays before the information was available.
SolutionA Business Intelligence System was installed and configured to provide Dashboards and ad-hoc reporting with the ability to drill down to the details. Statistics are now updated on a daily basis and immediately available for access.
The web interface allows users including the Attorney General immediate access from any browser.
A collection of predefined dashboards were created to provide at-a-glance access to the most commonly accessed statistics. These dashboards are simple to use and include charts, graphs, pivot tables, and other rich content that would be expected.
Additionally, Business Intelligence system provides ad-hoc query ability just in case the user cannot find what they are looking for on the dashboards. Users may create their own reports from scratch, or copy any of the predefined reports and modify it to suit their own needs. These custom reports may then be added to the users own personal dashboard(s).
Data is updated and aggregated automatically on a daily basis providing current statistics to the users.
CloverLeaf provided the expertise to establish a repository for this information, install, configure, and customize the Business Intelligence for CalDOJ. This system went from the drawing board to production in under six months.
Previously, an entire department would spend months collecting data, and ad-hoc requests would take weeks. Most of this information is now available with a few mouse clicks. The Attorney General and staff have immediate access to the information necessary to rapidly identify problem areas within the state.
