Social Security Numbers needed to be redacted

To ensure the privacy of its members, an enterprise-wide effort was launched to redact Social Security numbers from all correspondence.

Solution

Redaction with Adobe LiveCycle

CloverLeaf developed a solution with Adobe LiveCycle to redact Social Security numbers in documents generated by the legacy mainframe system.

Correspondence Inventory

CloverLeaf assisted with gathering the inventory of documents that required redaction. We then analyzed current business processes, workflow, JCL, Natural, and/or the COBOL programs that generated each document class to determine the possible integration points for the LiveCycle solution.

Redaction Technology Research

Various options for redacting Social Security numbers with LiveCycle and/or other technologies were researched and documented.

Integration

Each redaction solution was developed and tested.

Demonstration

A demonstration of the solution was presented to CalPERS management.

Benefits

Adobe LiveCycle fit into the enterprise direction for Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) and was already an approved enterprise product.
